Merge Audio and Video

Motrix Media Merge combines a video’s picture with an audio file’s sound. It copies the original tracks without re-encoding and keeps both source files.

This official plugin is installed separately. It is not included in a new Motrix installation.

Availability

The plugin requires the manual merge interface, planned for Motrix 2.0.0-beta.47 or later, and FFmpeg configured in Settings → Integration → Media Tools. The plugin listing shows the required version and release availability. Installing a plugin package alone cannot add the interface to an older app.

After the signed package is published, install Motrix Media Merge from the plugin directory and enable it. If you changed the FFmpeg setting while the plugin was enabled, disable and re-enable it.

Merge two files

  1. Open the plugin’s Operations tab.
  2. Choose one video and one audio file. On desktop, you can also drop each file onto its card.
  3. Choose MP4 or MKV, then select a save location and a new filename.
  4. Click Merge. The page shows progress and lets you cancel.

You can also select two completed, single-file downloads and choose Merge audio and video from their action menu. After completion, desktop users can choose Open folder next to the saved file.

The Web UI selects files already on the Motrix server; it does not upload files from your computer. The server’s allowed download directories apply to the inputs and output.

Output and troubleshooting

Existing files are never overwritten. Only one manual merge runs at a time. MP4 supports fewer codecs than MKV, so try MKV if the MP4 container rejects a track. The destination filesystem must support hard links.

Open Logs in the plugin’s detail page to see starts, completions, cancellations, and failures. Failures include the processing stage and reason. Filenames are shown by default; verbose logging can retain full paths.

This plugin does not join clips end to end, adjust audio timing, or merge downloads automatically.
